Paul Karrer

The Nature of Vitamins

Paul Karrer unravelled the chemical structure of plant pigments and vitamins. Moreover, he demonstrated how beta carotene is used by the body to produce vitamin A. His research findings were not only milestones for the basic research in chemistry and biology, but also a huge inspiration for the success of the chemical industry in Switzerland.
