Kynan Eng

Kynan works on deep tech startups and most of this work occurs at the interface between neuroscience, engineering and human-computer interaction. Currently he is active as co-founder and CEO at iniVation (neuromorphic vision), chairman at QuantActions (digital health), and board member at iniLabs (incubator). Kynan holds degrees in computer science, applied mathematics and mechanical engineering, as well as a PhD in Neuroinformatics from ETH Zurich. He is a previous faculty member of Uni/ETH Zurich, where he ran a research group investigating neuroscience and medical applications of virtual reality.

Entrepreneurial experience

Kynan has extensive experience in transitioning university-based research to industry.

His first venture, YouRehab (acquired by Reha-Stim), created and sold one of the first VR neurorehabilitation systems for clinical use to over a dozen countries. At iniVation, the neuromorphic vision startup which he currently leads, he raised venture funding from Samsung and recently sent the first neuromorphic technology into space. He was also founding chairman of the neuromorphic AI company SynSense, which raised funding from Baidu and Merck.

Currently, he is also founding chairman of QuantActions, which provides mobile tap analytics services for patient tracking for multiple neurological conditions.
Just some of the skills involved in starting these ventures include IP strategy and negotiation, hardware/software product pricing and positioning, go-to-market strategy, supply chain management, stakeholder management, and of course fund-raising.
