Medicines are sensitive to changes in temperature. This means they must only be exposed to a clearly regulated temperature range. But how can this be guaranteed? In its lab at Technopark Zurich the UZH start-up Modum has developed a solution: a temperature sensor that can be included in medicine parcels. The sensor measures the temperature in the parcel every few minutes throughout transport and stores this data. With the help of blockchain technology, the data is recorded in a forgery-proof and transparent manner and can be viewed by customers. This serves as verification that the prescribed temperatures were adhered to.
