BioEntrepreneurship & Innovation Program

From Scientist to BioEntrepreneur - Creation of a Marketable Product

The BioEntrepreneurship & Innovation (BEI) program offers hands-on education and training for UZH, ETH, and University Hospital researchers in the field of Life Science, MedTech, or Pharm who aspire to become successful BioEntrepreneurs.

Guided by experienced and successful Entrepreneurs and Experts in Residence, BEI program participants learn how to bring ideas and research results to the market and how to overcome classic founders’ pitfalls. The BEI program addresses essential skills and know-how for the creation of a spin-off company, e.g., intellectual property, development of a business plan, basics in legal, finances and regulatory affairs, and negotiation strategies as well as sales pitch training.

The BEI program is a modular course system consisting of three modules, A, B, and C where up to 4 ECTS are awarded. The program starts with a general introduction to BioEntrepreneurship in Module A. Module B focuses on the basics of law and finance, intellectual property, product development and marketing or soft skills. Finally, in Module C, workshop-like sessions delve deeper into selected topics and offer the possibility for one-to-one coaching.

The participation is free of charge and the course language is English. The BEI program is offered by the Institute for Regenerative Medicine IREM and takes place at the UZH Campus in Schlieren.
